Downtown Brevard is centrally located between Pisgah National Forest, DuPont State Forest, and Gorges State Park. Brevard’s prime location affords its visitors the opportunity to hike, kayak, fish, canoe, and rock climb right in its backyard. We are 45 minutes from Asheville Airport.
Our house is a tranquil and relaxing space located on a quiet Brevard street. We keep you close to all the "action" this sweet mountain town has to offer. We are a 10-minute walk to the old fashioned soda shoppe, O.P. Taylor's Toys, shopping, antiquing and the seasonal tailgate market downtown, and a 5 minute drive to the Brevard Music Center and Brevard College.

Our area has mostly individually owned, single family homes, a quiet family garden – and local children playing on the streets. While it has changed a lot in recent years, the neighbors all work in Brevard or adjacent towns – or are retirees. Many of our guests enjoy walking and often remark on the friendliness of the neighbors and the community spirit.

About Pets

PET NOTE
Normally when we allow pets we ask that you be careful with them to minimize the "hair impact" as some of our guests have allergies. We do ask you to try and avoid pet time on the furniture. Some guests have even opted to bring their own cover if they plan to allow pets on furnishings, which has worked out well. The laundry room opens into the garage and has a dog door into the fenced backyard, which offers a safer place to stay when unaccompanied or uncrated. 

The fenced backyard is also a good place for dogs to play without fears of their wandering away, though we ask that you take care to remove any "gifts" they may leave behind. Please inspect the fence just in case a prior doggy visitor created any enticing escape routes before leaving your pet outside alone. 

Also, the neighborhood is a great place to walk dogs and close enough if you want to walk to downtown or to the tailgate market when in season (April-October).

At East Fork Farm our farm team is working hard to prepare for your arrival: Our chef is classically trained and well-seasoned in farm-to-table style catering, and our professional adventure guides are excited to lead your family and friends on an adventure you won't soon forget.

Our aim is to customize your experience based on your own goals and interests. If you wish to fish beautiful trout steams, tour accessible waterfalls and picnic with your family, we can provide that experience.  If you wish to relax at the farm and settle down to a farm dinner while the sun sets over the balsam range, we would love to provide that experience.  If you wish to embark on a 3-day backpacking trip through the local wilderness and end your journey with a feast and bonfire at the farm, we will be equally excited to guide you in that endeavor.

Hiking and Biking:

As far as hiking and biking, there is just so much in this area. I'd recommend checking out the visitwaterfalls.com hiking section for hikes and perhaps these sites: http://www.mtbikewnc.com/trailheads/pisgah-national-forest/ and http://www.pisgahareasorba.org/ for rides/trails. There is so much diversity of experience, you are bound to find something you like at your level.

We drive into Dupont and do the trail ride with our 5-year old to Bridal Veil Falls. It's fun. Not technical because I would just crash :-). We recommend a Weehoo Bike Trailer for long family rides.

You can ride to the greenway from our house and go all the way into Pisgah. We also do this ride with our daughter and then wander around the woods. There are some road crossings to manage once you are on the greenway. Trail Link has a good description of the trail. http://www.traillink.com/trail/brevard-bike-path.aspx It looks like they have a map, too, but you have to join the site for access to that.

Our house has a single car garage which can serve as an excellent bike parking lot. There is also a hose right outside for washing after a good ride. The laundry room is just off the garage for convenient gear / boot removal as well, which does a good job protecting the light carpeting from debris and mud.

Restaurants:

Surprisingly - they have a nice Sushi place in Brevard next to the Walmart right at the entrance to Pisgah. The mountains aren't a location I'd have expected to find edible, let alone quite good sushi! http://www.sorasushinc.com/#_=_

Hobknob and Square Root are both dependable for nice, reliable and tasty meals. We are very into eating out and haven't been anywhere we did not want to return to in Brevard. There is a new creole restaurant downtown that has some creative specials.

For more budget options, Pescados, Mayberry's, Pad Thai, and El Ranchero are all reliable (or at least have been in the past). Kiwi Gelato is always delicious!

If you want to go further afield, check out Gorges State Park and then eat in Sapphire after, definitely try http://www.tablesixtyfour.com/ - a new place with really unique offerings.

Breweries are popping up all around the area:

Driving via S Caldwell St, this brewery is .9 miles, or 3 minutes from our house. We walk to this area often, with our child who is now 5. With her, it's a 20 minute walk. Adults can make it in 10-15. It's right next to Kiwi Gelato.

This one is 3.4 miles from us. About 8 minutes by car. We can provide you directions to the greenway if you wanted to bike here. You'd probably enjoy the ride - our friends do! Oskar also has a trolley schedule that takes folks to Asheville but you'd have to check with them in summer to determine availability. They have a kid friendly outdoor environment but only serve peanuts and no food.
